FSU Roach Infestation Raises Concern
Fall move-in happened just a few short weeks ago. The freshman excitedly went to their new rooms for the year to unpack and set up. Many dorms, unfortunately, found that they weren’t as cozy and clean as they’d like. Some even found a FSU Roach Infestation.
“They’d be in the corner, and I’d just be laying down and see them crawling up the walls,” Salley Hall resident Sophia Wilson said. “I just thought it was gross because I shouldn’t be paying this much money to be living with roaches.”
A giant cockroach infestation was found as the students started moving in. And, with all of the commotion, the insects naturally became disturbed and began to move freely through the halls.
“There were still alive ones running around,” freshman Salley Hall resident Isabella Stineman said. “I didn’t want to have to readjust and stuff. So, we’re just gonna have to make it work. But I was like, this is not going to be ideal at all for living circumstances.”
“Every building is going to have a pest complaint,” Director of Facility Services David Sagaser said. “And the fact that we provide a free service some people just do it to take advantage of the services we have.”
“We’re in Florida,” Executive Director for University Housing Shannon Staten said. “There are some pretty common things happening. Salley’s an older building, and the older buildings tend to have lots of things in them. Such as in their crevices, crannies, and nooks that you have to be very careful and diligent with.”
Either way, this sounds like something that wouldn’t make me too comfortable. If I lived in the area even around Florida State University, I would consider contacting a pest control specialist to make sure I don’t share the experience with these young freshmen.
