East Lake Horsefly Exterminator   arrow

If you live in the East Lake area, you know we have some nasty biting flies. From the massive horse fly, to the brutally fast Yellow Biting Fly. They’ll chase you all across your yard and into your house if they can. And now that spring’s back, they’re back. But today we’re going to go over what you can do to identify an infestation and see whether you need to call an East Lake Horse Fly Exterminator

East Lake Horsefly Exterminator: Identifying A Horse Fly

The mouth of the horse fly is sequipped with mouthparts that are like blades. They use these to cut you open and then lap up blood from the flowing wound.

Horse flies are similar to deer flies, and both are in the family Tabanidae. The two ways to tell them apart is to look at their overall size and their wings. Horse flies tend to be much larger with a stouter body and a very large head with very large eyes. Their wings are usually clear or cloudy whereas deer flies have dark bands or spots across their wings.

Horse flies hunt humans by detecting several things. They can see your movement, bright colored clothes, or your carbon dioxide output. They usually won’t chase you inside, but they can end up in your home through open windows and doors.

East Lake Horsefly Exterminator: What Can You Do

Chemical and source reduction control of horse flies is very difficult since they develop in natural habitats where insecticides, if legal to apply, offer little more than a minor, short-term degree of effectiveness. In addition, the extent of their developmental habitat is extremely wide-spread.

That’s why it would be best for you to call your local East Lake Horsefly Exterminator. Especially one that uses natural methods since chemical insecticides have recently had their safety called into question.
