Couple Loses Children after Horrible Bug Infestation

Due to a horrible bug infestation. three people arrested for multiple counts of child neglect. Sadly, the arrest came after three children were living in deplorable conditions. The home is in Flagler County, Florida.

Lynn Marie Kulka, 52, Michael Alan Choate, 24, and Rene Elizabeth Marchett, 26, arrested by Flagler County deputies. The arrest came after the Florida Department of Children and Families conducted a two-week investigation.

Deputies said on July 3 they received a call to assist DCF at a residence on Brelyn Place after a 4-month-old. Police found multiple insect bites and bone fractures were discovered. As a result, the children were taken to Florida Hospital Flagler.

The home is infested with hundreds of bugs. Bugs, including cockroaches, were also found throughout the home. Moreover, they found insects crawling on the walls in and around the children’s mattresses, bassinet, and playpens.

The children, a 4-year-old, 1-year-old and 4-month-old, were covered in bug bites from their infested surroundings.

In addition, authorities discovered the home did not have a working air conditioner. The deputies questioned Kulka about not getting the air conditioning fixed. She stated that because she didn’t want the landlord to see the condition of the home.

“This is a traumatic situation for all of the children involved,” Sheriff Rick Staley said. “The children who were living in this house were subjected to deplorable living conditions. I’m very proud of the hard work our investigators did. They put this case together and thankful that the children are now safe from these three individuals. These individuals obviously don’t know how to be parents or properly care for children.”
