My friends, is there anything worse than finding roaches in your house? Well, sure I guess. You could always find a man with an axe, or maybe some sort of SUPER roach. But in the realms of reality few things can lead to a panic quicker than finding a living roach scuttling around your kitchen. And if you live in Florida, you’ve likely had this experience. This goes double if you live in the Tampa area. Unfortunately, if you do live in or near Tampa, you realize how perfect our environment is for these creepy pests. It’s hot, packed with people, and moist. There’s few things roaches like more than a swamp, and our city is practically built on top of one. Some more bad news for you: if you see one roach, there’s probably at least a dozen you don’t. So make sure to get ahead of a possible infestation and contact your local East Lake roach exterminator! This goes for the Brandon area as well.
East Lake roach exterminator: Signs of an infestation
Here in Tampa, we’re stuck with some pretty big species of cockroaches. A lot of folks know them as the palmetto bug. In reality, you’re dealing with mostly the American cockroach. This species is big, lumbering, and can fly. You won’t see them fly very well though since they’re so heavy. You can find signs of a cockroach problem easier than the actual pest most of the time. Cockroaches are nocturnal, so you won’t see them during the day. Instead, they will be comfy in the cracks and crevices of your home.
This bug is attracted to any type of food you have in your home. The cockroach will eat food, paper, packaging, plastics, fabrics, or even animal droppings. Let’s go over some signs of infestation.
- Cockroach droppings – If water isn’t readily available to them, cockroaches will create brown or black cylindrical droppings. These droppings are 2mm long.
- Shed Skins- Cockroaches shed skins five to eight times as they mature. You’ll find these shed skins close to where they’ve established their infestations.
- Smear Marks – If water is available, they create brown and irregular smear marks. Check for them on wall-floor junctions.
- Corpses – If you see a dead cockroach, there’s more that you don’t see. That corpse isn’t just a sign of the infestation, though. It’s also a buffet for the survivors.
East Lake roach exterminator: What To Do?
Other than keeping your home as clean as possible, there isn’t much you can do against a roach infestation. Palmetto bugs can survive for days without food and can live off of water that drips from your pipes. If you think you have an infestation, call an East Lake roach exterminator as quickly as you can. And try to choose one that uses a natural solution. The safety of chemicals as weed killers and insect killers has recently been called into question.
