When we think of parasites in the south,as a pest control company in Brandon, I usually go to mosquitoes. But there’s plenty more where that comes from. Especially if you go to school, work, or live around a lot of people. Today’s pest is spread through contact with humans, but it doesn’t stop there. That’s why we’re going to talk about the Brandon head lice.
Brandon Head Lice: Overview
A head lice is a whitish-gray insect. They’re about 4mm long and have hooklike claws at the end of their legs. They have no wings and are almost as flat as a piece of paper. They generally transfer between children at schools but can infest your home once there. They’re spread through either direct contact with the infected person or through contact with their furniture. They can leg eggs in your beds, linens, clothing, and towels.
Lice infesting your home can lead to them infesting you, and once there they’re a pain. Their bites cause intense itching and scratching, which causes sores and bacterial infestations on your skin. There are multiple species of the Brandon head lice as well, which all have different effects. Some infestations can also leave a psychological impact on you thanks to the constant tickling sensation on your body, which can result in anxiety and sleeplessness.
And of course, like any other good parasite, they spread plenty of diseases. These range from Epidemic typhus, to trench fever, to louse-borne relapsing fever; and even vagabond’s disease.
What Can You Do?
When it comes down to infestation, the best thing you can do is identify it early, so you can call in the pros. Thankfully they’re pretty easy to spot, from the constant presence of bugs in your clothing or hair, the intense itching, the rashes, and the red spots they cause on your skin.
