Spring in Florida, the Brandon Florida Bugs are coming.   arrow

Well, it’s finally spring in Brandon, Florida. And you know what that means. The warm, inviting weather. The blooming flowers. The booming tourism business. But worst of all, the bugs. That’s right. The second the weather warms up, you know that the bugs are coming to town. And Brandon Florida bugs are just as bad as anywhere you’ll find in the sunshine state. Today we’ll go over the two worst offenders.

Mosquitos

That’s right. The dreaded mosquito. Maybe the worst of all Brandon Florida bugs. And not just one type, no. Our sunny little state is home to dozens of species of this blood-sucking parasite. From our own backyard to South America, to Africa. You can find mosquitos from all over the world thanks to our bustling ports and trade.

That’s how the lovely Zika Virus made it’s way to our shores, along with the dengue fever and malaria. If you’re going to go outside during the cool parts of the day, try to wear some sort of protection. Be it bug spray, or simple long shirts and pants.

Biting Yellow Flies

Another plague-like member of the Brandon Florida bugs family is the biting yellow fly. Similar to horse flies, these insects are strong fliers with yellow bodies and clear wings. And unlike mosquitos, they don’t use a numbing agent and a needle-like mouth to suck your blood. They use scythe-like mouthparts to rip open your skin and feast on the blood the oozes out. If one of these guys bite you, it’s said to be similar to a small electric shock. And the itching you’ll feel for weeks.

Unfortunately, the only way to really avoid this voracious little parasite is to go out in the hottest part of the day and hope they’re not hungry enough to pursue you anyway.

What To Do?

The best thing to do this spring and summer if you have a pest problem with any type of Brandon Florida bugs is to contact a local pest control specialist. Especially one that uses natural methods of pest control, as chemical pest controls can be dangerous to both you and the environment.
