When Should You Hire an Exterminator?
So many of us start by doing things DIY. There are pest control products at the local hardware stores. There are even stores dedicated to selling insecticides. And how hard can it be to kill bugs anyway? What we think is first we buy the pesticide and next we spray it. That should take care of the pest infestation. But what if it doesn’t rid your home of ants, cockroaches or spiders? That is probably when you are wondering if it’s the right time to hire an exterminator.
Cockroach Infestation
Should you hire a professional pest control exterminator? Well, that depends on a couple of things. First, what is your threshold for the number of roaches you see each day? Are you seeing more than you would like even after you have provided a treatment? Then hire an exterminator. Second, are the cockroaches everywhere in your kitchen like behind the refrigerator or in your cabinets. In that case, hire a pest control company.
Ant Infestation
Most ant infestations can be suppressed when you DIY. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule. If you live in a Northern State and have Carpenter Ants, get help. Carpenter Ants are wood destroying up north. So, do not take a chance. If you have a supercolony of ants, you will probably need professional pest control. If you have an occasional invader, or just a few ants at time, treating yourself should be all that you need
Bed Bug Infestation
Right out the gate, I say there is no threshold for bed bugs. So, if you have even one or suspect you do, hire a professional company to get these blood-sucking creatures under control.
Termite Infestation
Termites are another invader that I would suggest hiring a professional to help solve. There is too much of a risk hoping you eradicated the termite infestation. By the time you find out you might have been wrong, the damage has occurred.
As you can see, there are timers treating a bug infestation is something you might be able to handle. But there are times, like when you have a termite infestation or bed bugs living at home, that you should consider that it’s time to hire an exterminator.
